General Product Info

Mood Rite Trainwreck Kratom comes in a very attractive container. It’s a hot pink, with a reflective label and a very unique jar. The label states the only contents as Mitragyna speciosa (aka Kratom), although, it does not list what type or strain. The nickname “trainwreck” in the kratom industry typically means it is a blend of all strains (white maeng da, red borneo, etc.).  With this fact, this product is supposed to be one of the stronger kratom powders on the market.  The label also includes some typical FDA disclaimers and the phrase “No Directions for Use.”  The company is nice enough to list their website and phone number.  Mood Rite does not advertise their kratom brand though. Instead, they only seem to push their CBD lines on their website, thus the only place to get a hold of one of these would be a local head shop that stocks it!

Product Administration

The container itself is very hard to open, despite the label guiding the user to “pinch” the two sides to life the lid easier. The contents of 50 grams kratom are stuffed into a plastic baggie like buying a quarter ounce of weed from your local dealer.  The baggie is tied off with a literal twist tie. Working it back into the container is extremely difficult without making a mess (after the baggie is open). Measuring is essentially by eye, assuming you toss and wash like I did. There are no dosing instructions listed, and thus I took 2 grams over the course of 5 minutes on an empty stomach early in the day. In fact, all I had was a giant glass of water!  I did consume another 4 grams or so within the following two hours.

Product Effects

The 2 grams were taken pretty quickly, although, I did not feel much at all even half an hour later.  I subsequently took the other noted 4 grams until I felt a little bit of the typical kratom effects.  In this case (probably due to the weak quality of the kratom itself), I noticed VERY light euphoria, extremely light talkativeness, and a small bit of pain relief after I had consumed the 6 grams total.  The peak hit about 2 hours in, roughly 10 minutes from when I consumed the final sixth gram.  The effects were extremely short lived, dying very quickly afterwards.

Final Thoughts

Mood Rite’s Trainwreck Kratom definitely is not as powerful as most “trainwreck” brands.  I suspect very strongly that this is not a “real” trainwreck brand, but just some normal kratom powder. Probably a weaker strain like “Red Vein Borneo” or some Bali kratom of some kind.  It most certainly contains not Maeng Da, definitely not White Maeng Da.  I would say it is a total scam, however, it is certainly real kratom as well. I also like how the company (Mood Rite) represents itself as a clean, safe company in terms of their website and CBD products. While I should note that I have not tried any of their CBD products, or any of their other products at all, I suspect they maintain some level of decency in terms of GMP production practices.  The lack of effectiveness in the product itself, the twist tie used to close the bag, and the way the bag was shoved into this container, however, definitely raise enough skepticism for me to reduce what would have been a 3 star review, to a mere 2 Star Fat Sammy Rating.  Bottom line: while it is real kratom, it is overpriced for the quality and largely unsatisfying.
